Why Adactia?

I’ve always had the dream of running my own business and after nearly 30 years working in the Global Ed-Tech and UK public sector markets I’m really excited to be able to launch Adactia Consulting.

To start with the name…. I’ve already been asked a few times: ‘what does Adactia mean’?

Well, I wanted an original name that captured the energy and focus of building and growing a business.

After a lot of brainstorming (who knew how hard it is to find an original name?) I ended up going back to my school days and came up with a very ungrammatical mash up of the Latin words ‘ad’ and ‘actio’ to create Adactia which means ‘forward to action’.

The ‘forward to action’ concept of being proactive and creative is key to what Adactia Consulting is all about.

My own experience of working and leading in organisations of different sizes and types and in working with other business leaders has shown me how hard it can be to grow a business and also just how rewarding it is to take your products and services successfully into new markets. It takes hard work, a clear strategy and brilliant execution to really make a business grow at scale.

Adactia is built upon the experience I’ve gained and the techniques I’ve developed through success (and failures) in growing ED-Tech businesses into new markets around the world. It is focused upon helping people and businesses to grow by:

· Helping them to sell brilliantly in their chosen markets

· Having a winning approach to partnering and acquisition

· Making the business easy to sell or for others to invest in when the time is right

In future blogs I’ll explore each of these areas and how important they are to creating sustainable growth and building value for a business. In my experience businesses that can find a way of getting each of these areas right are the most successful over the longer term and create the most value for their owners and shareholders.
